Meet the Founder

Catherine A. Thornton, RN, MSN, NHA

Founder & Principal Consultant

Catherine founded Cato Partners after more than two decades leading clinical operations at some of the country's most respected luxury senior living communities. She has served as Director of Nursing, Vice President of Clinical Operations, and Executive Director — roles that gave her a rare 360° view of what truly distinguishes exceptional communities.

Her work has guided more than 60 communities through CMS surveys, leadership transitions, regulatory redesigns, and culture transformations. Catherine holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University, is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, and is a sought-after speaker at LeadingAge and Argentum conferences.

She built Cato Partners around a simple belief: that clinical excellence and luxury hospitality are not opposing forces — when integrated thoughtfully, they define the very best of senior living.
